By the third moto, Mt. the of the strain was showing on bikes and bodies al ike. Mini riders Rowdy Blasdell (Yam) and Randy Webber (Hon) each won a moto , then Rowdy led wire-to-wire in the third for the win. Rob Williams, Mike Smith and Billy Parker (all on Hondas) finished in that order via the final moto finish with all three tied at 13 points. Kurt Spack (Suz) wo rked from las t place to finish fifth in th e first moto and we n t on to win the nex t two to t ake top 100 Jr. ho nors. Ald en Swendsen (Yam) took th e 125 Int. wi n while Mark Hambelton (Bul) battled for the 250 Int. win afte r a bad first moto, Lewis Swan won that one. In th e 25 0 J r. class Doug Ringe r (Hon) cam e fro m a mid-pack st art to ta ke the lead in t he fin al lap in m o to on e. He wen t fr o m th ird to first by lap th ree in the seco nd. Kirk Co rn ell (CZ) led both race s un t il Rin ger go t b y . In the final race Steve Witt (Ya m) an d Darren Johnson (Ho n) were one-t wo b u t Rin ger an d Co rn ell p ulled o ut th e top two spots ove rall . Doug Gab bert (CZ) an d Vern No rq uis t (Su z ) ex changed th e lead in the first Op e n Jr. race wi th Gab bert o ut fro nt a t the flag. No rq uis t came back to lead al l the wa y in the second with Gabbert traili n g. Norquist j ust co uldn 't ge t with it in the final race. Gab bert led all th e way this ti me and J im Newman (l\lai) squeeked in to secon d o ve ral l behi nd him . The Pro s were all run to ge ther wi th separa te scoring fo r 125 an d Open classes. Mt. The sprinkler system aro und the track, and the lake in the middle, seemed to help the 90 degree weather not see m like 90 degrees. The 250 Expert clas s was won bo th days by Tom Rapp (Bul) of Santa Cru z, b ut n o t without a fight th e last day from local Expert Parry Klasse n (Mon), who had a first an d second, b ut Rap p 's second and first took ho me the top m oney . Dennis Brand, trying for the firs t time the 125 Expert class on a ne w Suzuki, won with no problems both day s. .
