Environmentalists have propused a large tract of wilderness in the aeveland National Forest. AMA Atlantic Region Starter Duke Pennell has decided not to accept re-appointment for the 1975 season. Mr. Pennell served as starter for the Daytona 200 at the request of Mel Parkhurst, AMA manager of professional competition, and Charlie Watson, Atlantic Region Referee. No replacement for Mr. Pen nel l will be announced immediately an d other experienced MIA starters will handle rem ain ing 19 75 Nationals in the Atlantic Region. Governor Sherman W. Tribbitt has declared the week of June 9-14 Motorcycle Week in Delaware. Governor Tribbitt's prociamation is in recognition of the ILC Cycle Classic, a Camel Pro Ser ies half-mile Nat ional June 14 in Harr ington, Delaware. Legislation : HB2 749 in Oregon has been returne d to the Energy and Environme n t Com mittee for revision. If 250cc World MX Champion Gennady Moisseev, a Russian under contract to the Austrian KTM factory (read Penton in America), is expected to return to action by the June 8 Yugoslav GP. Moisseev broke an arm earlier th is year. Genit Wolsink, Suzuki works motocross rider and winner of last years 500cc U.S. GP. collects and restores BSA Goldstars. The AMA Professional Rules Committee has approved several significant proposals for the 1976 season. Among them are a change in the Grand National numbering system (top 20 riders rece iving numbers corresponding to their position in the final Grand National point standings); reve rti ng back to the 1974 procedure for starting dirt track and road race events; a change in the claim ing rules (engines/transmissions/ignit ion and carburetion components only - not the frame); and a limitation on the number of cylinders allowed in pro road racing. With only 2 AMA National road races left on the calendar it seems likely that more riders may make the switch to Britain where there are races every weekend. From across the seas comes word that the FIM Rally will be held in the big Polish city of Lubl in. This is the 30th FIM Rally and in Poland will be handled under the Commission for Concentrations and Tourism. Sounds scary, doesn't it. The three day rally is one of the most popular cycl ing events on the continent. After the FIM Rally there will be three seven-day tours to the Mazurie ; land of 1.000 lakes, Bieszczady; a non-polluted natural reserve, and Zakopane; the pearl of the Tatras. With the approach of America's two . motocross Grands Prix for 1975. the 500cc at Carlsbad, California, on June 22 and the 125cc at Lexington , Ohio on July 6 , questions have arise n regarding the entry p roceedure to be used in determ in in g the fields for th ose tw o in ternational even ts, FIM regu lations re quire . in essence that a ride r choose the GP class he wants to ride, declare s th at class . and once he compe ted within tha t class he is not then e1gible to rid e a GP in another class for the rem ainder of the season . This then will require all riders to det erm in e in advance which of the American Gran ds Prix th ey wish to ride and enter only that one . Like-wise, a rider may n o t co mpete in one class in the Unite d States and then switch to rid e in the Canadian Gran d Prix. 250cc MX World Standings: Unofficially. Willi Bauer of West Germany and Team Suzuki continue to lead the standings after five of 12 250cc Grands Prix. Bauer's 90 point total includes 12 earned in Poland with a second place finish in the final moto. Everts' 3O-point sweep at the Polish GP moves him in to the No.2 spot with 71 points. Swede Hakan Andersson and Czech Jaroslav Falta have 54 points each , followed by West German Adolf Weil with 53, West German Hans Maisch with 51 , six-time World Champion Joel Robert of Belgium with 47 and American Pomeroy is ei~th with 39.
