Richard Sing (Suz) had the 100cc Junior lead all the race, c onstantly harassed by fellow Suzuki rider Bob Merriott. While Merriott was trying to steal the lead from Sing , a hard-charging Terry Sanderson (Yam) was coming up from the back to battle with the Suzukis. The 360·500 Experts were running so close the first half of lap one, it was hard to determine who was going to lead the big herd into the sweeper. Paul Anderson (Yam) took the point into the sweeper with Dave Baker (Suz) and Steve Correia (Suz) following. Anderson opened up his Yamaha on the second lap and started pulling away from the rest of the pack. Baker and Correia fought a hard battle for second, changing positions every time y ou turned your head. When it was all over it was Anderson one-wheelin' it down the straight for the win, and Baker finally man aged to p ut a little distance between himself and third place finisher Corre ia.
