In the 125 cc Exp ert race. it was a two man duel between Sam Ma t t h e ws (H .D ) and Kirb y Shropshire (Suz}, Matthews held th e lead · all five la ps but Shro pshire slipped by h im right a t the fin ish line to take the chec kere d . Don Warr en (Bul) and Grant Salyers (Ho n) were leading when they tangl ed up on the second lap, leaving th eir positi ons to Doug Garrison (Suz) an d Fran k Adamo (Yam ). Ad amo passed Garrison on the third lap but Garrison took back the lead on t h e fourth. Adamo had h is fi nal chance to take the win when h e cut to the inside of Garrison in the final tum. They were wheel to wheel coming out of th e tum and from there to the finish line it, was a drag ra ce. When it was over Garrison had won by only a couple of inches. Ro y Sharp (Ka w) held off everyone else fo r third. • Results in Results Section. Sam Mathews (3) has Kirby Shrop shire (9) th rough Porte rville's right-hand er, but the two 125 Experts were reversed at th e finish.
