Bill Childers took an a mazing third overall, first 175 cla ss o n his rapid 100 Suzuki. Following Childers was Mar k Stormes (Suz) to tak e seco nd o pe n and third open went to old-timer T om Widick (Yam), hotly pursued by son Mark on his 250 Yammy. In the afternoon ra ce Bill Saltzman smoked everyone for first . With Saltzman o ut front the big ra ce was for second between CAilders , still riding his Su zuki 100, and Bill Frian t on a 17 5 Penton. On lap three Childer s passed Friant b ut quickly a te his lunch in th e whoo p-dce-d os, leavin g Friant wit h th e second overall an d first 175. lt was a bi g day for th e 17 5 class as Dave Hornbeck (Hon) took third o verall and Lee Fabry sailed in behind on a Husky .
