Turner won the first moto bu t found himself trailing Preston in the second. Numerous times Turner pulled side by side with ' Pres to n but could not find the right combination to get around. Turner was declared the winner because the first rnoto was the longe r of the two. Turner was not so successful in the 250 Expert class, though he finished a solid second behind Kevin Henry, a Dist rict 36 blue pla te holder for 19 74 . Henry (Bul) won t he class by win n ing the first m oto an d pl acing second behind Charlie Vo llenweider (Bu l) of La g u n i t a s Ln t he fi na l m ot o . Vollenwider's win in t he second m oto , com bined with his fifth pl ace finis h in the first mo to, was goo d enough fo r an overall third . • Resu lt s in Results Section. l Hylton, Hall win two in Chico By Rex Backman CH ICO , CAL., AUG. 17 Cliff Hy lton and Mike Hall both took home two first place t rophies in the nigh t short track races. Hylt o n's first win came in the 200 Expe rt Main, as he put his Yumaha in fro nt of th e pac k at the start of the event and wen t on unch allenged. J eff Damon worked lip to second after a bad start and Pau l Quiring (Bul) was third. Win number two for Cliff came in the 200 Handicap . Tom Cantrell (BuI) led at first but fell back fro m the leaders as the Experts worked their way up through the pack. After a few laps Hylton was in the lead and riding on for his second win. Mike Hall led from start to finish in the 250 Novice Main as he held off a hard-eharging Paul Meyer (Cop). With Hall's win to night he is now three.po ints ahead of Meyer. In the 250 Handicap, Hall agoain jumped to an early lead with ~leyer trail ing again in second . Hall continued to lead but Meyer fell back to the press ure of John Ga rdine r (Yam) and Jim Hubbard (Yam) . Hall was out front with a comfortable lead b ut Sha ne SCOll (Ya m) was having it out withj im Hubbard. Coming o ut of the last corner it loo ked li ke Scott would get Hubb ard but t he bid fo r third place fai led as Sco tt had to swerve out of his line to miss Matt Jackso n, whose b ike ha d jumped o ut of gear.
