He was in fou rth and pu shing hard on Ric Burkinshaw (Ho n) wh en they wen t into a tigh t com er . Burkinshaw slowed suddenly and Burgett went ou ts ide th e be rm to avoid hitting him. dropping to fifth . That proved to be a co stl y move. Burgett wen t on to pass o ne and all by the checkered but was penalized for cuttin g (? ) the co urse. (It see m ed strange that several Open junior rid ers weren 't also pen alized for being just as fa r off the course fo r the same reason in th e firs t scratch. Politics?) Si mmons was ha nded the win . Burgett ret urned in th e second moto bu t his Bu l went to pasture in the third lap an d Si mmons wound u p wi th all thr ee w ins. In the first 250 Pro ra ce Chuck Sun gained en ough time when Burgett laid it down to take the w in and get th e edge for th e Over all while nearl y half the rest of the en t ra n ts wen t ou t to co ffee before the las t mot o. T he se tw o are be co ming a regu lar feat ure in the one -two positi ons o n th ei r Buls . Matt ... .. . .... .- Da n Torsen (1.) and Chris Be nder [r.l boogie down hill in their 250 moto ... Mike Kinnear (Hus) hung consistan tiy in the third an d fourth spots all day . Sun came back in the Open Pro with a n ew Bul which he broke in during th e first race with a leisurely sixth. Bert Noble (Mai ) moved u p from an eigh th place first lap to win. Bob Leach (Mai) held th e lead until he fouled a p lug - a chronic condition for h im before the day was over. Ma rk Kim (CZ) held on to second and Go rdy Oc hs (Bul) to ok a th ird . Sun ca me back to win th e ne x t tw o but N o ble held the poin t edge fo r th e big m oney. Ochs had his bid cut sh ort when he wen t d ow n in th e second m ot o and tw o thirds of th e fiel d ran over hi s scoo te r before h e c oul d re trieve it. • Resu lts in th e Re su lts Section.
