Blix passed Lan zaron e and started to reel in on Zahn, but Zah rt was ridin g well a nd it took him awhile. Blix finally passed the other Bultaco pilot to grab the lead about halfway through the 20·minute moto, Zahrt's expansion chamber cracked soon afte rward and he drop ped to fourth. behind Lanzarone and Terry Van Blaricom (1\Iai). Blix took second, with Lanzarone workin g his way back to third. Blix took the Overall win, with Zahrt and Lanzarone tied at five poi nts apiece. Zahrt took second-place cas h, based on his bette r finish in the second m o to . Zahrt was also entered in the 125 Experts. True to his style for the da y, hc took the lead in the first moto an d then dropped out with mechanical ills. Russ :'IcAfee ( Bu l) took the lead on Zahrr's demise and held it. Zahn did win the second moro, with l\IcAfee cooling it in second.
