Bakken, James Wotr ing, Art Knapp , Danny Sanchez, J im Con nely , John McGowan & Kooki e, Larry Watk ins, Mark Adent, George Elliott, Bob Valentine, Larry Roeseler, _and (maybe) J.N . Roberts. Minicycles race for one hou r on mile course - all classes ( 0~ l , 6 1 -8 0 , 81 -110). Veterans, Sidehacks & P. Puffs (2 age groups) race for one hour! All other d ivisions two hours! The Junior class was loaded with entries fro m Oregon and Arizona but it was John Alli son putting it all togeth er for the first tim e as a pro rider and running aw ay in both the heat and the final. Wash ington's Kirk Watterson tried to upset the Californians in the second heat but crashed go ing into the first turn while leading on the last lap. He took Walt Foster down with him. T he win then went to Rick Kraft from Arizona. T he Novices kept pace with the Experts an d Juniors an d also came up wi th ano the r new first time season win ne r. Doug Garriso n started on th e pol e, led from the start and held off fo ur diffe ren t challengers to w in his first eve n t. S teve Ekl und tried , before he we nt out w i th en gine troubles. T h ree-t ime winner , Elbert T urn er trie d, bu t settled fo r secon d . Poin t lead er Da n McWhor ter tr ied but ende d up in th ird . Co nsistent Bren t Knauer sei zed an engine in the heat race and w as pitch ed over the hand lebars. Brian Garcia and Dave Raci ne t angled off th e start lin e in the semi w ith bo th riders go ing d own. What hap ped to Gary Scott in th e final?
