Motorsports Associates of los Angeles, Harold Murrell and Pace Management of Houston, Texas have formed a joi n t venture called Motopro Enterprises to promote motorcycle races all over the country. Their first venture will be an Inter·AMA motocross at Salt Lake City June 30. Attached to the list of motocrosses qualifying American ' riders for the InterAMA and TransAMA races is the firm enjoinder that only these events will be used for rider grading and only top-graded riders will be allowed to enter the AMA's two international series. Right off hand, we can think of at least two American riders who won't qualify: Brad lackey and Jim Pomeroy. They had to give the qualifiers a miss to compete in a thing called the World Championship. So far, Brad has finished one qual ifier in about fifth place and Jim, none . Where's the loophole clause? While p uzz ling ove r th e effec ts of the new AMA professional raci ng rules, we are also struck by the fact that at any international motocross (That m ean s In terAMA or TransAMA), the to p 20 starting positions at the gate will be de te rm ined by current national points standings. Does that m ean that Roger. Heikki, Adolf, and the gang have to wait to go to ' the Kate until after .. . uh, who is 20th in national motocross points, anyway?
