Taking an un ch allenged first place victory fo r the 125 Beginners was the Honda of little Paul Shones. Right behind him in almost every race. and taking an eventual second was speedy Eddie Kindwiler (Hon), with Randy Kendrick (Suz) ending up third fo r t he d ay. The 125 Novice -junior-Intermedia t e . Combined h eld some in teresting racing in sto re for all three o f it s cla sses. Overall winner in this gro up was Interm edi ate . Robert K. Lunt (H on) . which left Richard Zalle r (Ho n) no ch oice but to take second place. The Junior first pla ce trophy was awa rd ed to Scot Clifton (Ho n) , second pla ce being grabbed b y Mark Elder (Hon) . The 250 Beginner-Nov ice-Junior Combined ra ce followed. T his we ek the Novi ces seem ed to out do th e Juniors at their o wn game w ith Tom Cross (Suz) leading the entire p ack in just abo u t every race to a glorious first place position in his class for th e day. Back in the pack Bill Haney (Ka w) managed to work his way through the sea of machines and bodies to take a well deserved second place, with DeWayne Stark (Suz) finishing in third. As for the Juniors, it was Bultaco mounted Don Whitaker who managed to hold off the co nstan t ch arge of Y Z rider Dale Luedtke, for th at sweet, swe et . first place brass. Bringing up the rear was Kim Van Buskirk (CZ) for a third p lace finish. The Beginners saw Richard Br e e dve l d (Yam) go on to an un challenged first place victory over his group w ith Craig DeSoucy (Yam ) getting second w hile thi rd went to his brother Mark, a lso on a Yam aha. The Co mbined Expert race. alth ou gh not up to its usu al amo un t of Experts. still managed to put on a good sh ow for spectato rs as well as for the ride rs invo lved in th e race. The overall w inners of the th ree classe s co mbined was Val Ta mietti o n a Honda 250. Second p lace was Patri ck Flynn (Yam) and th ird Hus ky rider , Sco tt Miller . The Ope n .
