There was a goo d spe ctator turnou t even th ou gh the weather was a little nipp y. The excitement of the races brought the spectators to their feet many tim es during the even ing . More th an 135 rid ers turned ou t for th is sp ec tacular sh ow. There were many super fast riders. b ut th e rid ing ab ili ty was not the only noticeab le fa ctor. T he sp o rtsm ansh ip of the riders was so me th ing else . Some riders fo und th emselves pushed again st the wall or being held up by a slow bike but all kept th eir coo l. Restarts were many. If you h ave n ot seen one o f these races ye t, come see one. You wo n' t be disapp o in t ed . T o all you motocrossers tha t have been say ing, " I can ' t wait fo r fla t tr ack seaso n to st art again:" if this is an examp le o f w hat yo u are going t o be up agains t d uring t he summer yo u'd be tter co me ta ke a look. You might wan t to give it a try as so me did Sa turday nig h t to find the C an d D mains very fast. In A main min ib ike action, Shawn Stei nbach (Hon ) was first off the line an d led it all the way to take first pl a ce. Ran d y Rice (Hon) clai med second with a th ir d to Scott Miller (H on) from Albany. T roph y Dash winner was Steinbach. Dick Woo ten (Yam ) wo n the 100 . Ias s Trophy Dash and went o n t o take William s led it all th e w ay bu t J ack Hee ter (CZ) was very close behind. Steve Toftdahl (Yam) ro de hard fo r third. With the man y res ta rts it was a lo ng nigh t but I never saw one specat or leav e un til the race was over. 2::nua~AmAI-iA G.P DESERT vs mOTOCROSS $1.000 mAR. $1.000 Deschutes Cycle Park MX By Jan Newman 2 BEND, ORE.• JAN. 20 IN PR IZES!
