By July 1, 1974 you must have a license plate or green stickie on any motor vehicle that you ride, drive, store, or transport anywhere. The only exception is if you have an out-of-state driver's license in which case you are not required to have registration to ride off-road. J J.N. Motor sports have been totalIy banned m Germany because of the fuel shortage. Motorcycle racing has been stop~d in Greece. South Africa has banned all types of motor racing. Rumania has a gas ration that most Americans would fmd intolerable: nine and a half gallons for four months. . America needs more motorcyclists. Among the riders ex~ct to compete are Bultaco's Malcolm Rathmell and Martin Lampkin, European trials champion; Montesa riders Rob Edwards, Rob Shepard, and Pedro Pi; Mid. Andrews, probably on Yamaha; Don Smith and Richard Sunter on Kawasakis; Dave Thorpe for OSSA; possibly Water Luft if Puch is serious about trials, and even Sammy Miller if rumor is to be believed. This in addition to the top Americans. The date is Sunday,January 6, 1974. Speaking of the AMA getting into International events, it would be nice to see a road racing GP in this country. We could get a chance to see Giacomo Agostini, Teuvo lansivuori, Kent Andersson, and all those neat, fast little fifties and one-two-fives. We might also sae some of our best riders out tIMre. Gary Nixon, Ken Roberts, Gary Fisher, John long could be seen on Yamaha 250's and 350's in those cIasMs. Some old Kawasaki H1-R's might be produced for DuHamel, Nixon, and Baumann for the 500 class, and Suzukis could be produced for Smart, et al. It would be ri!tlt nice. Roxy Rockwood, announcer at most of th e Nationals and AMA official, recently received a scroll from Governor George Wallace of Alabama, making Roxy an official Lieutenant of the state militia, and a George Wallace wrist watch.
