Randy Scott sewed up the
Western regional title with a third'
place finish today, but Southern
boys Mike Kidd and Roger Crump
were the respective winners in the
Expert and Junior events. Kidd
was pushed hard in the Expert
main by John Hatdey, who
finished second.
Tod Sloan and Paul Bostrom were
involved in a bad crash that sent Sloan
to the hospital with serious back
injuries. Bostrom was not badly injured.
Eddie Wirth came in fourth, foUowed
by Ron Moore, Jim Rice, Frank
Gillespie and Tom Rockwood.
Roger Crump, Dixie Rider of the
Year in '72, managed to break' the
domination of western Junior aces John
Gennai and Rick Hocking. Gennai took
the lead but went down in the first tum,
requiring a restart. Crump wired the
second go from flag to flag, foUowed
across the line by Hocking and Gennai.
The Novice man went to Yamaha
mounted Skip Aksland, putting at least
one Californian in the top slot for thel
