October 9,1973 Page 21 in the Junior portion, the McRae boys fought it out for a first and a third. It was the fust time the two had ridden a main event together and for the lust half-lap, it was John at the fore. Going into the right hander after the jump was his downfall though, as young Tom got a wheel underneath and made a clean pass. Jeff Eide was in the lead for a short period then, but Tom swept him easily with an outside pass. In the race for top points, Steve Eklund closed the gap a little more on Mike Kalamaras and second place in the top twen ty by winning the five trophy main event wi th Kalamaras riding to a ,.,cond over point leader Mark Smith. Kalamaras has been suffering of late with his B & R sponsored Triumph in pieces. Jim Foley kept a grasp on the bottom part of the list with yet another win in the 500 Expert Main while Scott Pearson barely held off Bob Scally for the 350 Expert win. Cliff Servetti is on a hot streak of late with a win tonight on his 650 Norton, the first here in a year and still hot from last week's Salinas 'run. Newly married and running the Servetti motorcycle operation in San Francisco must agree with him; he has never looked better. The brother team to watch in this type of event is the Morrell bOYS, of Marathon fame. Wayne won both motos of his 250 Novice division events while Wes did the same thing in his 125 Novice things. Wayne got a Junior card for his efforts and Wes, if his luck holds, will soon follow. Dave Rosenquist pro"ed that it wasn't any fluke in making him an Expert before he got the points by winning the Open Expert over Chris Carter with a win in the last moto. • jiM FisllbAdcs YAMAHA~[f©[M1]' ti\lMti\ A so h Sponsor of. #1 - 250 Expert Desert George Luther #2 - 400 Expert Motocross .lack Knebel Desert #25 - 400 Expert Scrambles Greg Seda #78 - 250 Expert Desert SPECIAL RACE READY CZ By Steve Castillo Photo by Bob Anderson SUNNYVALE, CAL., SEPT. 9 250cc CZ 4-Speed Complete With Ron Self on board the Trophy Cycles Maico picked up yet another win in the 250 Senior class here today. Self had no Mark Peters. ~xpert Paul Lambert CMC North at Sunnyvale trouble with the other riders in the class. Rocky Pocock swapped his Bultaco for a CZ and took second overall. Dave Scott rode his Honda in for third. Jeff Mullins outrode the rest of the Open Seniors on his Bike World Kawasaki to take the win in that class. Jeff had to contend with Dan Hensly (Mail, who took second, and Bob Williams (Hus), who has started .racing· again, took third. Mike Amaral won the 125 Senior class, much to no one's surprise. Mike has been on a winning streak lately and , nothing seems to hold him down. Steve Hickle (Suz) brought the Cycles Unlimited Suzuki in for second. Mark Peters also seems to be riding the winning streak as he beat the 250 Intermediates hands down. Mark haS his Trophy Cycles Maico in the right groove as he walked away from Jerry Castillo (Hus) who took second. Forrest Galt came in for third on'his Honda. Bob Geffert kept his new Honda out in front of the rest of the 125 Intermediates to take the win in that class. Milo Marsh did a good job of working up to take second overall. Stu Bussert, also on one of the new Hondas, came in for third. • SA ES PARTS SERV CE DYNO TUNE .lim Fishback #7 - 400 dlin H0DAKAof DID Wheels, Heavy Duty Spokes, Electronic Ignition, 34mm Mikuni Carb, Filtron Air Filter, Plastic Gas Tank, 8i.
