Zahrt came around first but his wheel was only about three inches in front of McAfee's. After the first lap Zahrt led with McAfee second and Jim Hale (Pen) third. Zahrt opened up a big lead while Hale and McAfee diced for second place. On the fifth lap Zahrt cr ashed, letting Hale and Russell McAfee (BuI) by, meanwhile Mike McAfee had broken a gas tap. Zahrt got up and worked his way up to second with Hale winning and Russell McAfee coming in third. In the second moto Zahrt led for most of the race with Hale right behind. Hale got a face full of mud in the beginning. of the race and had to toss his goggles, leaving his eyeballs exposed to blasts of dirt from Zahrt's knobby. Despite this he kept 'close for second. McAfee was third place. In the third race Hale got the start and led Zahrt and the rest of the pack. Halfway through the mota Zahrt began to close the gap. Going into the first turn of the last lap Zahrt outbraked Hale and beat him to the wire. Overall Zahrt was f11'st, Hale second and McAfee third. After one lap of the f11'st 250 Junior moto Mike Quisenbery (CZ) led the 250 Juniors with John Lanzarone (Mai) . second and Gary, Silvestari (CZ) third. Abou t halfway through the race Bruce McLeod (CZ) and Dan Guin led at the start in front of McLeod and Silvestari. Quisenbery was in fourth until he drowned his CZ in the mudhole. McLeod passed Guin to take the lead and Silvestari stayed in third. In the third mota Quisenbery took his usual spot in the lead with McLeod second. On the third lap Quisenbery, who had been having bad luck all day, crashing again, and, while he was getting up, McLeod ran into hini. Both riders were unhurt and finished the race. The crash moved Danny Stone (Yam) in fir.st, J obn Lanzarone second and Mike Huddleston (Han) third. Overall McLeod won with Danny Stone second and Ronnie Gibson (Gre) third. The order of the f11'st mota in the 250 Expert class stayed the same from start to finish with Tracy Oswell (Han) leading, Randy Berkeley (Mai) in second and Von Peterson (CZ) third. In the second mota Oswell !lot a good start again but highsided a tum and the best he could do was a third. Von Peterson led for a couple of laps until Berkeley passed him and stayed in front for the rest of the race. John Pfeiff (CZ) led for three laps in the third mota until Berkeley worked his way by and won the last mota. John Atwood came up to second and Von Peterson finished third. Overall Randy Berkeley was f11'st, Von Peterson second and John Atwood third. • Rex Staten had an easy win on his number two bike.
