turns. They 'both pulled it up crossing
the start-finish line at the end of the
first lap, and Becker slid wide as Woods
dove for the pole through tum 1 and 2.
They were side by side again down the
back straigh t, but the edge was still in
Woods' favor as Dan drove high to the
wall and swooped down to the finish
line that Rick had already crossed.
During the trophy presentation one
of the vehicles built by Van Spect:qun
was used as the trophy car, and six fair
maidens jumped from the rear of the
van lavishing kisses and congratulations
on Rick. They then proceeded in front
of 9,000 people to kidnap him. He was
physicaUy put into the rear of the van as
the six maidens piled in behind him,
pulling the doors closed and the van
sped off.
. Woods did not fare so well in the
Scratch Main event against Mike Bast.
Mike won the event making it his third
night in a ro'l/; three ou t of four Scratch
Main events in one week is not to
shabby. Of course Mike has done better
winning all four last week. Danny
Becker finished righ t behind Woods as
he did in the Match Race followed by
Sonny Nu tter for fourth ..
Billy Gray got his fourth Handicap
victory of the season, starting from the
ten yard line well ahead of the other
five riders. There was no one near to
ride with, as the Bast boys were very
busy trying to get passed Larry Moon
and Billy Miester.
The people from Premier Helmets are
true supporters of Speedway. Not only
do they sponsor the Second Division
Main event, posting a cash reward to the
winner if he is wearing a Premier
helmet, they also put up contingency
awards for the Main Event victors and
sponsor several of the top stars in
Speedway. The newest members of this
growing team wiD now be Mr. Billy
Gray, and Premier will buy him' a new
set of leathers.
Bruce Penhall won the Division 2
Main for the third time this season and
the right to kiss the trophy girl. This
time he did not have to stand on his tip
toes to kiss her, she was more his size.
The young miss is a represen tative for
Captai'n Sticky, -a local fiber glass
company, She is called a Stickette.
