guaranteed positions on the U.S. teams
on the basis of their 1972 qualifying
performances and previous ISDT
experience, changed mounts mid-way
through this year's qualifiers. Clark,
who had been riding a Penton, switched
to Puch, a brand of motorcycle he had
ridden in the 1972 ISDT and in past
qualifiers.
This was the first year he had ridden
a Pentoh, and even though he had
placed well in the qualifiers, he did not
feel that he would have sufficient time
to familiarize himself with the Penton in
order to best serve the United States'
effort.
By forfeiting his trophy team moun t,
Clark had put himself in the position to
compete individually for a position on
the multiple'brand Vase B Team or on a
club team. With the announcement of
team selections, he wiII serve on the
Vase B Team.
