third with fast timer Barratt in fourth.
Mike Renslow came on late to nick
Gennai for fifth. The old record was
neld by Larry Gino, set a year ago to
the night.
It was a wild night for the Novices,
racing in front of a near record crowd.
They got carried away on three
occasions, bringing out the red flag for a
race-stopper.
Bruce Hanlon led the heat race
winners with the fastest five laps. Three
riders tangled in one heat on the south
turn but all walked away.
I t was the Novice final that caused
the rear problem. Ron Tobey, Chuck
Soderstrom and ·Nick Nazzissi all
collided on the fust lap and wen t down
in the south turn. Tobey and
Soderstrom, both former Main event
winners, got back in for the re-start but
N azzissi was out of the action for the
night.
On the second try Skip A ksland took
the lead away from Hanlon early in the
race but Hanlon stayed with him until
the race was again red flagged. This time
it was point leader, Tom Berry, losing
his machine going on the back straight,
hitting the wall and then both man and
machine flying through the air in a solo
ac~ that stopped the race with no restart
on lap six. The win went to the ever
improving Aksland with Hanlon second.
Berry was later revived and walked to
the pits.
Big news for the girl followers was
that Debbie Reon pulled a third in her
heat race bu t finished fourth in the semi
to again fail to grab off a transfer to the
final. When N azzissi crashed on the flfSt
lap of the Final this left a spot open for
an alternate in the Main. It was the
Gardena Girl Gasser - Debbie Reon.
But her debut into the bigtime was
short and quick. She crashed into the
hay bales on the south tum on the
second lap. Miss Reon is reported to be
okay and will be back for another shot
at the I(UYS this cominR Friday niRht.

"When it comes to chain remember two things. The place to
lubricate is the inside of all those
little pin bushings. The other thing
to remember is TORCO POWER
SliOE Chain Spray.
POWER SLIDE penetrates inside
and leaves a clear transparent film
of anti-wear lubricant on the pins
and bushings. It won't squeeze out,
sling-off or melt when hot. It's also
waterproof and rust proof.
