Some of the world's fastest horses were running at Colorado Springs' Pike's Peak Turf Club on July 8th.The race was the AMA National ChampionshipYamaha . Gold Cup,128 furlongs (16 miles). . The favorite wasYamaha, with Roberts aboard. But some racing experts pointed out that Mann looked good on Triumph, and Harley was at least a dark horse. When the dust settled,the scoreboard proved the oddsmakers right.The winner wasYamaha, by two-and-a-half lengths. Yamaha rider Kenny Roberts stretched his AMA National point lead, and set a new track record in the PFOCesS. And as if that weren't enOl.~.gh, Yamaha won all the rest of the races on the sheet: Novice, Junior, and Trophy. When you think about it, it wasn't even a horserace.
