'" " : N .... en en ~ o ~ z W ...J () > () by The Shadow ELSINORE, CAL., Dec. 3, 1972 - A great turnout from the Oldtimers Club, 24 elderly cyclists in all, along with some redhot racing marked the California Racing Club motocross races at Rawhide Park Sunday. While the racing was super hOl, the weather was less-than-great, cloudy and downright cold all day. As for Rawhide Park, the new ownership continues to provide the perfect motocross track. Now that they have water and sprinklers, the place is a virtual paradise, which rivals the magnificent Arroyo Cycle Park. As for the elderly gen demen from the Old timers Club, it was hot action all the way. John Stewart (Bul) swept to victory in the Oldtimers Novice race, with a three-way tie for second place between Joaquin Morillo (Bul), Larry Escamilla (CZ), and LeRoy Ballard (CZ). In the Old timers Amateur class, Will Lynch (Mai) was a winner, with second going to Jim Merrilken (Oss). Final Old timers Club race, the Senior event, found J.L. Siebrandt (Gre), the winner, with second place going to Gene Fox (Mai}. Next came the Minibikers, with Geoff Singer (Hon) a winner in the 11 and older class, and Jeff Hewitt (Hon) the winner in the 10 and under class. John J ugenheimer (Yam) grand slammed the 100 lleginners class, with a new favorite of The Shadow, Davirl Taylor (Yam), grand slamming the 100 BeRinners, under 16 class. Finishing second to Taylor was Larry Wilkerson (Hod). Another joy to behold was the 100 ovice race where Richee Collins (Yam), long-time favorite of certain trophy girls, swept the class in honor of his 14th birthday. Richee looked great in the Holligan Race, but sure looked pooped after the 15-lap event was over. What's the trouble Richee, old age catching up? Second place in the class went to Jackson Kistler (Yam). While it wasn't Jackson's birthday, he still looked great. . Then there was the neal 250 and Open Novice races. Postal regulations forbie! the word I'd like to use, bu t those two races were boss. In the 250 ovice event, Steve S ubith (Yam), and Reggie Ragsdale (CZ) battled it out right to the· final moto, with Subith finishing first with 969 points, and Ragsdale second with 925 points. Ragsdale won the Open Novice race, also gaining 969 points, with a second going to Jerry Harris (Suz), who, strange as it may seem, posted 925 points. Turnabout is fair playas they say. Keith Dysert (Kaw) , had his hands full on the afternoon, sweeping to vic tory in the Open Beginner race, then finding himself a 125 DKW and winning the Holligan Race. Some day! Second in the Open Beginners wen t to Randy Briggs (Cl). Only 1121 more shopping days~till... HURRY! Carrera 98 vented GOGGLES $695 Bell Helmet Bag Dust Free Face MASK 25.
