.,. '" 8. .. Furriners Invade 395 IT and Half-mile "" N ,.... Cl ~ cO N by lmogene Rees ADELANTO, CAL., Nov. 19, 1972 395 was invaded by out-of-towners today. Traveling hot shoes 40 some odd in number all the way from Nevada, Arizona and all parts of California came to give the local boys some competition. I-IRA newcomer John Erickson (Kaw) went home with the prize in the 100 rr. Chris Morland (Kaw) took second. In the Half-mile it was Bob I-Iuffman (Kaw) first after a battle with Jonnie Seller (Yam) and Toby Sweaney (Kaw). In the 125 Novice it was another newcomer Brent Knaver (Yam) who ran off with the gold in both races. Curt I-Joining (Yam) took second 'in the Half-mile with Gary Roderick (Yam) grabbing it in the TI. Brent Knave, (Oss) came back again in the 250 Novice 1'1' to grab another win. The Half-mile was another story with Chris Morland (Bul) off the line first and all the way home with no sweat. The hi-lite of the race was Edward Selland (Bul) grabbing his very first trophy with third place. Ed is stationed at George's Air l'orce Base and is shipping out this week. If you gotla go, you golta go, but it was a great way to finish up lhe season. The Open Novice Tr _saw Jeff Zwaster (Tri) off the line with Thomas Howe (BSA) giving him a run for his money on another one of those yin tage Cold Star jobbers. Greg Reynolds (Suz) copped the win in the Half-mile The Expert class was out in full force. In the 125 it was Vince Mead (Kaw) all 'the way in both races to take the daily double. Steve Sisco (Kaw) our eleven year old, recently turned Expert fought his way up thru the pack with a ,; 0 Z en ~ w Z w -' U >- U most irnprcss,ive ride for a hard earned fourth. The 250 Experts put on quite a show, with Torn Worfolk (Yam) cranking it on to take first in the TI. Earl Roloff (Yam) pushed him hard but had to settle for second. Not so in the Half-mile, though, as Earl had this one all to himself. " • . Togetherness is not next to winningness. Cary Wells (Bul) had his Bul tamed in the Open Experts and Whe~,lied himself all the way horne first in both races. Gary makes it look so easy as he rides most of the race unicycle style.
