At the checkers Evans was nearly a quarter lap up on the second place finisher, Rudy Galindo. While Evans was out running around by himself that second place brough t one of the best fairing rattling contests of the day. Rudy Galindo" Reg Pridmore and George Miller swapped places for the entire race and never stretched out over more than thirty yards. In the end it was Galindo, on a 350 Yamaha, Pridmore on the 750 BMW and, in fourth, Miller on another Yamaha. In the lightweight production event Fred Walti on a 250 Yamaha and Bob Crossman on a 250 Suzuki jetted off from the pack and began an interesting dice. Crossman, pressing hard to keep up with the rapic:i Walti hecame a little over enthusiastic in the esses and met up with a hay bale. John McNeil on a 250 Kawasaki then inherited second. Walti -continued his rapid pace, never really letting McNeil in sight, and garnered another solid win .. Colin Jones on a 125 Yamaha and John Weed on a 125 Villa headed the lightweight GP contest.
