Cal-Expo Speedway by Pat Jones SACRAMENTO, CAL., Sept. 8,1972 Don Cullum rolled to an easy Scratch Main win over racing partner Guy Waterson but Reno rider Alan Christian captured the Handicap Final to preven t a sweep by the Southern California pair. The Scratch Main would have been downrigh t dull exq:p t for a hea ted battle for second spot between \Vaterson and Stu Morley riding the newly-renovated "super tape special." Morley and Waterson wen t wheel to wheel for three laps before Stu lost control and crashed handing third place to Joe Henry who had been running well back in fourth positioIL The Handicap main saw Christian start from the 30-yard line and hold off Cullum fQr a cOf\vinc;i.I)g win, Cullum started from the 50-yard start at Expo and catch him. Joe Henry, also starting on the 30, held on for third place, and Waterson settled for fourth position. The Scratch Consolation race saw John Cunningham finally hit his stride and win a laugher over Rich MacMurray and Christian. Christian spun a complete circle on the second lap to eliminate himself as a threat in the race and MacMurray did his best on a borrowed JAP, but ILad to settle for second spot. And Debbie J ackline, the world's fastest female speedway racer, continues to improve. In the last two weeks, she's raced in two Div.
