Roberts beat the Experts with easy, winning two out of three motos and had nearly everyone asking who the mystery rider was. The 21-yearr old recent arrival to the mainland has been racing at CMC events but had a string of bad luck until today. Roberts said he has been the Hawaiian State Motocross Champion since John DeSoto vacated the title, riding both 250 and 500 classes. He has spent the last two months trying to line up a sponsor for the Trans-AMA series with a total lack of success. He now rides with help from Key Cycle in San Diego and looms as a potential ,threat in the big bike class. Roberts said he had to leave Hawaii because of the near impossibility of obtaining sponsorship there and the tigh tening noose of limited motorcycle sports.
