Personable Jim Evans, who is beginning to come on strong as a road racer, got underway with'. a really "out-of-sight" start and had strapped a ten-second lead on the rest of the field crossing start/finish 0ll the first lap. Pat Evans, in the meantime,' had gotten a poor start and then was held up further by a couple of back markers. It took some fifteen minutes, before the start/finish line judges decided the winner. Inside were two obviously confused young fellers with a pair of slightly used trailbikes on the back. They viewed the pit area with slightly more than a dozen vehicles and asked wistfully, "Isn't there supposed to be a race here today?"
