Brelsford now has twelve straight. heat race wins and an overall win streak of ten in a row going into this coming Friday night's half mile action at Ascot. Continuing to look better each week is Idaho's Tommy Sawyer. The Junior from Boise is the only challenger for the Southern Californians on their home track. The "Flea" took second behind Lacher both times but hung in there for the entire fifteen laps in the final and did not fade in the stretch run. His first in the heat and second in both the dash and final is his best showing on' a half-mile in nearly two seasons. Sammy should score his 400th half mile vi~tory this Friday night, thus becoming the first and only rider in racing history to win that many half mile events. His climb to the long-sought number has built him a large following of cheering fans again this year. He was the crowd favorite in all three events last week. If he makes it this Friday it will be a history-making event. Perhaps a marker at the start-finish line would be in order. His first oval win came at Sedalia, Mo. way back in mid-1956 - that's a long time ago and a lot of laps. This coming Friday nigh t should see Sammy finally be the first, and maybe the last, to ever score 400 wins on any type track. Gary Scott swept the Junior class and his Triumph was never sounding smoother. Scott now has a new overall win streak going and now stands at four in a row.
