International Report ••• Phil Read, currently leading the fight for 250 world champion, suffered a setback July 17 when he got off his 350 Yamaha at 70.pLus while practicing for the Czech Grand Prix. He suffered a broken shoulder, missed the Swedish GP July 24, but should ride the one next week in F4ILand....Meanwhile, current title·holder Rod Gould, who was all but out of the picture, won in Sweden and moved into a tie for second. "1 can taste victory again", he said.... Barry Sheene is currently on top of the 125 title standings, and at 20 years, may be the youngest man ever to win a world championship ....Giacomo Agostini Leads in both the 350 and 500 placings with nearly twice as many points as the runners-up in either category.... John Banks, a man without a ride since BSA dropped out of motocross and was rumored to go with CZ, is set to sign - with Husqvarna.... Adolf Weil, the man who led the 500 world motocross championship series until recently, finally picked up his fIrst win of the season at the West German GP July 18. Ake Jonsson made it one-two for Maico Suzuki's lone rider Roger DeCoster still retains a slim lead in the standings .] oel Robert still needs a single victory to clinch his fifth crown, the best record ever. The total-coverage, or Ned Kelly, helmet controversy still rages in England. Giacomo Agostini swapped his new Bell Star for the old pudding-basin to prepare for a bout with Rod Goud at Sweden's 350 GP, claiming concentration was easier. Ago won that one, and later won the 500 GP wearing the Star. Phil Read wrote in Motor Cycle News, "The Bell Star saved my life for the second time this season", referring to the above-mentioned crash in Czechoslovakia. Answering critics who maintain that the helmet is "hard to take off" and that a downed rider migh t be further injured in a panicky situation, Phil responded, "Okay, let's have some proper medical attention at the races!"
