The Invaders came up with a fast coune with a two mile fire road. The Antelo~e Ramblers course was choppy and tigll t with many places you coUld get into trouble if you hc:ld it on too fong. The dud betweenJ. N. Roberts (I·ius) m VISTA, ~ w Z w oJ (.) > (.) and Rich Thorwaldson (Suz) started on the Ramblers course at 9 a.m. as the pack headed for the smoke bomb a mile ou t. You could see Rich's orange bike charging to the lead from the right side as he came over the hill with a fifty foot lead; J.N. was running fourth. Rich still held the lead on the second lap but J. N. had moved up to second, and Howard Utsey had moved up to third. There was an additional fine battle going on between Skip Barth and Rex Tencyek for the fint Amateur hOnors. On the third lap the nut holding the swinging arm came off and Rich had his hands fun of problems. The hard charging J.N., who was close behind, took the lead and the win. Rich was second, and Utsey was third. Tencyek was fourth and took fint Amateur for the blue and white of So. Cal. M.C. The Open Experts went again on the Invaders coune at 12:30. Jerry Kopp and Tencyek hc:ld the lead at the smoke but on the second lap the very PFUTZENREUTER DOMINATING Larry Pfutzenrueter was a double winner. District 37's Lightweight ace, Larry Pfutzenreuter, who's already won .everal events overall, currently holds a commanding lead in point standings through the halfway mark with a total of 1904 to last season's second place ranking lightweight Wes Anderson Jr. 's 1480. Hoyt Statham and Ken Buckspan are tied for third with 1345 while Dick Breker fills out the top five with 1248. Last year's No. I, Tom Poteet, is running 21st; Eric Jensen (h) is holding 18th. Top Amateur is Lloyd Joins in 16th and Dick Myer is top Novice in 13rd. The beginning of the Lightweight Standings begins on page 28. INS!
