Rapp settled for fourth and Rodgers fifth. Clemen ts, competing in six motos on Sunday, made up for his second in the 250s to win overall in the Open class. In the first, Clements was running third on the first lap after Bob Hershey and Doug Nelson had a go-in at the base of the downhill. Jim West (Hus) held the lead with Bill Silverthorne running a close second. Then, Clements got around on lap two and preceded to close on West. At this time, Russ Darnell (Suz) was charging in fourth but the distance had become almost insurmountable. On the third lap, Clements got his opening and just opened the throttle to a point where nobody could catch him and he built his lead all the way to the finish. In the second time around for the huge class, Clements won going away again, with Silverthorne, who took fifth in the 125 class Saturday, settling for second and West third, which made for all kinds of possibilities as the final rolled around. In this, Silverthorne jumped to the lead with West second and Holcomb third. Clements was a tight fourth and Rob Norgaard fifth. Billy continued to hold the' point as they came around but Clementi was on the move again as he edge by Holcomb to take third and set his sights on West, who he caught and passed on lap three. By the fourth lap, Clements was right on Silverthor'1e's tail but he could not get his opening for the remainder of the race and had to settle for second. His showing, however, was good enough for the overaU win with Silverthorne second and West third. The Junior motos were run differently both Saturday and Sunday. On the first day, each division was run twice with the top 10 finishers from aU three going into a Final with points totalled from all three races for each rider. Sunday, that was changed so that the first two motos were only used to decide who made the final and that race alone determined the winners. Saturday's 125 Jrs. was dominated by 14-year-old Danny LaPorte on a Rickman. LaPorte gave a fantastic showing to win both his Division's Heat mo tos and then _came on strong in the final to win handily. Then, George Spellman on a borrowed CZ, put it to the 250 Juniors as he won the first moto of Div. II, took Wins again!
