FOW LER SNAGS TRIPLE WIN By Don Strashelm CORPUS CHRISTI, TEX., May 23, I97i - It's beginning to look like nobody can beat David Fowler and his Bultacos. He brought a 125 and 250 to the track today and proceeded to win the 125, 250 and Open Senior classes. The first heat of the 125 Sr. started with Jack Craig taking the lead on a Bultaco with Fowler on his rear wheel. The race continued this way until the halfway point where Fowler passed Craig, who appeared to be tiring. The second heat Fowler led from start to finish. The third heat proved to be some of the best racing of the day with Craig taking the lead with Fowler and Jake Warren close behind. Craig appeared to tire badly after three laps and Fowler and Warren both passed him. The finish had Fowler, Warren and Craig in that order. The 250 Sr. and Open were a walk away for Fowler. Eugene Cameron on a Yamaha 175 finished strong second in the 250 class and Mike Rau (Bul) took second in the Open. The 250 Jr's. had the largest number of entries and also provided the best racing of the day. The first heat had Gene Brown on a Husky in the lead on the first turn with Bobby Abbott on a Maico and Brad Adair on a CZ right behind. Brown held on to the lead the entire first heat and looked very good. This 16-year-old rides very smooth with a very disciplined type style and should become a Senior in a very short time. The final heat had Lonnie Plough on a ltawasaki out first with Adair's CZ righ t behind, followed closely by Brown and Abbott. Plough must have really been charged up for this heat as he rode an outstanding race, holding off the competition for a win. Brown and Abbott were fighting for 3rd which was decided at the finish line jump as Abbott's Maico passed Brown's Husky.
