Many riders and their families have been noticed taking home" the desert turtles that have recer.tly come out of hibernation. Despite the fact that there seem to be a lot of these turtles, there are actually very few. They are in grave danger of becoming extinct. For this reason alone the turtles should be left alone. But there are two other very good reasons: First there is a very stiff fme for anyone who is caught with a desert turtle in his posession; secondJy, we are going to have even more difficulty than ever keeping land to ride if it can be shown that we care nothing about the wildlife present. Leave the turtles be; they make lousy pets, anyway. If you've taken one home with you before, bring it back before it or the sport dies.
