All the quaint charm of the New York sophisticate pushing and shoving and running God knows where is caught in this big circular catwalk. People come along, I extend my hand and offer the little red and white sticker that says "Cycle News." Some take it without ever looking at it or me. If I say "Free Cycle News," they take that too and never even notice or care that it's a month out of date. They have huge piles 0 f stuff that they've collected and are carrying from exhibit to exhibit. Maybe they'll take it home and use it to rate this show against others they've seen. The Cycle World show receives a 6 lb. 4 oz. ra ting, improved 7 oz. over'tast year. A few people stop, take a sticker, and then ask quizzically, "What should I do with it?" But it's all in good fun and next year we'll do it all again with another 100,000 people. a most of them are giving away old issues. Cycle World, the sponsors of the show, have a display of their books that they're selling. Cycle News is selling subscriptions at discount. I'm supposed to take my tum in the booth and sell some subscriptions, but I'm not a selling type so I just try to give away all the free decals we've got in the booth. The showgoers are funny. They're all hurrying like they want to see absolutely everything there is to see so . .aJa Wins . , again.· ' . ·.•. \ ~ ~.-:: Invaders Hare Scrambles March 21. 1971 1st Trailbike (Expert) Mitch Mayes-Baja 100 (10th overall) 2nd Tom Sawyer -Baja 100 (1st Jr.) (2 in a row) Pif~~~\/ March 14. 1971 Chapparel's M.C.
