Pomeroy (Bul), J. Maroney and Jim
Wilson (CZ).
At the start of the final Lackey and
Stockman went to the front as they had
in their heat with Wilson holding down
third.
Grossi had a healthy start but was
having trouble catching up, but he
finally did and moved into second place
on lap five.
Then, a strange thing happened. A
rider went down and the black flag
appeared, accidentally says Bruce
Young, DDN M.C. Pres. Lackey, still
leading, and Grossi, closing fast, were
waved off the course by a flagman who
saw the black flag. When the flag
disappeared, the .flagman realized his
error and re-opened the course and the
race continued - without Lackey or
Grossi.
At this point, Bill Urban (Puc) took
over the lead and was being pressured
by Pomeroy and Marty Tripes (Ric).
But, when the mixup was noticed, the
club stopped the race and decided to
give Lackey first and Grassi second and
reschedule another moto to make up for
it.
In this one, Lackey jumped to the
lead with Grossi second and Rapp third.
Pomeroy, after a good start, had trouble
. in the water hole, got it going again, but
had to drop out half·a-Iap later as the
bike continued to load up.
On the third lap, Lackey was forced
. to retire with mechanical problems and
Grossi took over a strong Ie¥! over

Rapp. Bob continued to hold his lead,
and'actually lengthened it a deal by the
checkered. Rapp was second and Lund
third.
Urban, who took fourth in the 250
Class earlier, gave a good showing in the
125 class with come-fram-behind wins
iIi each of the two motos.
'
In the fIrSt, he moved from seventh
to first in the rust six laps and held on
over John Rice (Puc). In the second, he
picked up the point mid-way through
and again held on to win.
Except for the second 250 Sr. moto
mixup, the two days of racing were
superb. The ambulance had to leave its
roost only twice and neither time the
rider down was hurt seriously.
