He has been becoming tough competition lately and by today he had become too tou!tl. Clements rode his Huskies in six motos, all told, in both the 250 and 500 Expert divisions, and won all of them by substantial margins. The competition included Jim' Wilson, Marty Tripes and Fred Gualda, but Wilson was the only one who was in front of Billy all day. ) Wilson has yet to ride his bigger CZ in competition; he's waiting for the Inter·Am at Bay Mare Sunday. He had his 250 working fine and he finished second in all three of his motos. Marty Tripes was hot on Wilson's tail throu!tlout, and, in fact, had him beat in the first moto because Wilson slipped on a hairpin. Tripes unloaded a few feet from the checkered flag, and the result was Clements - Wilson - TrJpes in every race. Clements didn't have such a hard time on his larger bike; his only competition was himself. The pack he left behind was somewhat scrambled throu!tl the day. Second place eventually went to Fred Gualda. (Report and photo by David Swift). Posey said prior to the event "the course is slicker than snot," but it didn't seem to slow him down much. In the first of three Expert motos, Dick Allen (Tri) slithered into an uncomfortable lead with Posey breathing down his neet. In his cool but consistent drive, Posey moved past Allen to victory. Posey followed a good line to win the second round after Carver slipped out of the groove. . In the third, it was Posey again easily, John Isaacs (BSA) held Carver to third. HUNTINGTON BEACH, CALIF., Oct. 25, 1970 - Bryon Farnsworth should have known his day was not going to be a winner when he was involved in a practice spill with Jerry Greer. Although Bryon walked away only with a nasty cut on the arm, Greer received a spiral fracture in his leg. Farnsworth then proceeded to miss the top notch twice with a pair of seconds in the 250cc and Open Expert TT competition. Tony Dell grabbed the honors in the 250cc class and past master Alvin Sparks outdistanced Farnsworth in th'e Open event.
