To make any adjustments with the engine running, one would have to be the fastest screwdriver in the world. 4) Due to the position of the spark plug and the hole drilled for the compression release, it requires removal of th"e head to time the engine with a dial indicator. The correct timing is .126 inches or 3.2mm BTDC. Clutch adjustment is carried out under this cover. Back off lock nut and lightly tighten down center screw until it meets light resistance. The proper amount of oil (1000cc) is stamped on the engine case. It takes a little more than a quart. This should be changed at the intervals recommended in the rider's handbook. 5) One of the greatest innovations put on this machine is the Mikuni with the main jet that can be reached from the side (No. 150 stock jet). It is correctly adjusted when the pip on the cam plate aligns with the sheer pin (arrow) at the closed throttle position (idle). 10) The seat is hinged to prOVide access to the oil tank filler cap and the small 6-volt battery. Top up the battery regularly with distilled water. Access to the filter is also gained under the seat, wh ich should be cleaned regularly, or better still, replaced with a Filtron. L~-·., . . . . (Yes Virginia, some people do such stupid things). If the machine is operated with this removed, the plug should be checked to see that the mixture is not too lean. It may require a step up in main jet size. There it is, hope it is of some help.
