VALLEJO, CALIF., Oct. 9, 1970 - Bill Budde joined the very exclusive club of 250cc Expert winners here tonight, completely
shutting out the three riders who have owned the class in the previous 10 sportsman TT races. But those three - Jim Foley, John
Green, and John Gennair - came back strong in the 500cc Expert final (pictured above). Green (6) led from start followed by Bill
Trumbull (30F), Gennai (75T) and Foley. Gennai finally pulled it out and ended the night receiving the season's high-point
trophy with 31 points. Reports and photo by James Brammer. (Results on page 22.)

REDWOOD ACRES, ORE., Sept. 27,
1970 - The track was in real good
shape for the last Redwood Acres IT of
the season. The Sunday. afternoon race
was presented by the Far West
Motorcycle Club and drew a large
number of spectators as well as many
Oregon riders.
High point trophies were awarded to
Harvey Crews in the Expert class, Mike
Benson in the Amateur class, and Pat
Richter in the Novice class. A special
trophy was given to the Redwood
Ramblers of Arcata for their assistance
during the season, while the Ramblers
presen ted a special award to John
Morrison.
Storme Winters did himself proud
when, after winning the A-Main in
Redding, he drove nearly all night and
stayed up to get his machine in shape
for Redwood Acres.
During the Open Expert heat Bellino
Cow Trail Your a
a ENDURO SPROCKETS
went down in the first lap trying to get
around Storme, then Robert Vaughn
went wide and completely off the track
leaving Storme to win completely
unchallenged. Storme came back again
to win the trophy dash where he set the
fastest lap time of the day at 22.60
seconds.
The Main found plenty of action in
the Open Expert when Robert Vaughn
took the lead right off with Bob Bellino
in second and back in fifth or sixth spot
was Storme Winters who came up
through the pack to finish third.
Vaughn went down right after crossing
the finish line in first place. Vaughn is
one of Oregon's really fme riders.
The reason Harvey Crews wasn't in
his usual winning position was obvious
after listening to his bike. He had />lown
it up Friday night and though he had to
compete in all four races to win the high
point trophy, his bike just didn't have it
for the last race.
Contributions amounting to a little
more than $104 were awarded the
wheelie contest winner. Some of
Oregon's best went the complete
lenghth of the straightaway (over 400
feet) and deep into the first turn. It
looked as though they had it till the last
man to try, a cool and calm Lewie Brero
hopped aboard his B.S.A., put her on
her rear wheel, and proceeded down the
straightaway, around the turn and all
the way down the back stretch while
kicking and waving, he really put on
quite a show. Lewie says he can travel
for several miles on his rear wheel.
After the'race there was an informal
dinner held for the riders and those
people who help put on the races and
tentative plans were made to start the
new season in April of next year.
Tltere is one remaining IT scheduled
in this area, this coming weekend at
Willow Creek.
