Shipley WILLOW CREEK, CALIF., Oct. 3, 1970 - The season's last TT in Willow Creek was presented by the Trinity Trailsters Saturday night. Due to the extra large number of bikes the races which usually get over around 11 :00 p.m. lasted till 1:00 a.m. There were many riders from Redding present, a few from Oregon and Bob Bellino and Phil Ray up from the Bay area. The 250cc Novice class saw 29 bikes entered after three semi-mains. There were still a dozen bikes lined up for the start of the main event which had to be restarted four times because each start found riders going into the fence. At the fourth start two complete sections of the fence were knocked out. Tim Thrash went on to win but not before he had run over his brother Stan's head during Ol1e of the starts that was black.flagged. Stan, who was uninjured, finished fourth. Dave Jackson was seriously injured during the event and as a result of his mishap was operated on Sunday morning for the removal of his knee cap. The 650cc Novice event saw Jim Morrison mounted on his brother's Triumph, captured his first two trophie.s of the year. He won the trophy dash with three hot Triumphs right on his heds till the last lap, when the knobby John Flemming was running in the rear )Vashed out on him. Trying to avoid Flemming, both the other bikes went head on into the wall. The main also found Morrison out in front but he finished second after being passed by Denny Edwards. The 650cc Amateur.Expert found plenty of action. In the heats Bellino won over Phil Ray then did it again in the trophy dash. During the main it looked as though Bellino had another win till Phil Ray got around him in the last lap. Young Brack Zollo took home his first, first·place trophy in the 100cc Novice consolation race. David Cherry was back for his fourth win in the 500cc class, and Whitey Marx just walked away with fIrSt in the 250cc Expert event. There was only one high point trophy given and it was awarded to Amateur Jay Stradley who just completed his second year of TT racing. Other top contenders for the high point troppy were Pat Richter who needed one more first which he got. But, since Stradley only needed a second which he also got, it went .to him. Harvey Crews, who was also in the running, lost out when he was unable to race since his bike is broken down. Though this race concluded TT racing in this area for the season the action will continue with the start of the mud run. (Results on page 22) 'llEKEleA6lE' from U.S.A. In fact, he only required a hospital checkup before going to the county jail with police officers who had been chasing him at the time of the accident at I: 10 a.m. Several hours earlier, the motorcycle on which Ware was riding had been reported stolen. However, officers were attracted by its lack of a muffler, resulting in an unnecessa.ry amount of noise. The police siren failed to halt Ware, who raced through at least seven red traffic ligh ts, increasing speed up to 90 miles per hour, according to officers. Ware sped over downtown streets, which were rather deserted at that hour of the morning, and onto countryside roads outside town. Eventually, he failed to negotiate a sharp curve on Santa Barbara Road and rammed into a barbed wire fence. Ware is charged with reckless driving and auto theft. Uri Gottfeld, 21, owner of the cycle, is a California Polytechnic College student. ·'I~';;~~'~;~;." ':E:~:~'~~~' 'I' * C~~'y I GORDY WILLIAMS Authorized el HUSQVARNA Coleman's. 1545 E.
