Photographer, Dennis Greene, shot this unusual picture of speedway star, Rick Woods at Costa Mesa last Friday
night. Woods, along with all of the nation's top speedway riders, will be on hand this Friday when the National
championship will be decided at the Orange County track. As you may have noticed by the headline, Don Vesco and
his Yamaha twin streamliner set the ultimate World Motorcycle Record on the salt flats this past week. Cycle News
man-on·the-salt, Bruce Flanders, was there and came back with a full report. Meanwhile, Gene Romero, who has
already clinched the number one plate for next year, added frosting to the cake Friday night at Ascot, taking his
ClIt th ird National win of the season, as well as a sweep of the program.
