""'" IRICK WOODS ,FINALLY CLICKS '" 10 N 8. .. This is the jewel that has eluded him since June 19th, when he last copped a win in this main event. For John Fishburn, the winner of the Handicap Main, the drought was even longer. His last stint in the winner's circke for the Handicap Main at this track was September 29,1969. The special match race this week pitted Dennis Gildehaus and Terry Graham which again proved to be an even rna tch. They switched tbe lead back and forth three times, and as they were coming into the last corner, it looked like anybody's race as they went into it side by side. Then it happened. They both went down when they bumped together. Luckily, Terry Graham was able to keep his machine running and picked it up and rode across the line for the win. Dan Guinn was the man to beat in the Division Three Main Event, while the Division Two Main Event went to Larry Moon. As the riders lined up for the Handicap Main Event, all eyes were on Stu Morley, who was having a fantastic night in the Handicap events. Stu had won his heat and had come right back to take his semi. It looked like it was his Sales Represenfaf;ye For Fast Moving Cycle Accessories Distribution In Northern California. Into the first corner, it was Jim Anderson going to the front, with John Fishburn second and Bruce Haserot dropping into the third slot. Fishburn took the lead in the next corner, as Sonny Nutter was charging up on Haserot. As Nutter was taking Haserot on the outside, Morley came from nowhere and took them both on the inside. The tremendous power of Sonny's machine was evident as he quickly moved aro'und Stu into third and Rick Woods quickly moved up into fourth ahead of Haserot as they headed into the last lap. With the line-up Fishburn, Nutter, Morley and Woods, they stayed pretty even for the lap and crossed the line in that order as a big cheer went up from John, Fishburn's cheering section. • With a tremendous charge off the line, Rick Woods grabbed the lead in the Scratch Main Event and proceeded to show the fans what speedway is all about as he stretched his lead in a wire to wire win. The Mini-Bike race was opened up to larger displacemen t machines this week, and although he put on a good race and bad the lead for a while, Jeff Ward lost out to Guy Erickson with Jay Cox and Dave Carlson fmishing third and fourth. It will be worth coming next week as the mini-bike race will feature Mike Konle, Rick Woods and Sonny Nutter piloting the mini-bikes in this special race.
