Oregon Riders Converge
On' 6th Cascade MX Event
By Larry Ulrich
BEND, ORE., Aug. 23, 1970 - The
Cascade Motorcycle Club held the sixth
in a series of ten motocross races today
before a good turnout of riders from all
over Oregon.
Top cross-country rider in the
Northwest, Dick Jagow showed up and
exhibited his skill at motocross by
entering all three classes. He looked
good in the 125 by winning the last
moto and leading the second until his
front wheel unlaced and finished'
second. He could not ride the third
moto. Keith Nerseth of Eugne won the
last two 125 motos on a Penton netting
him the top trophy. Rick ·Limbeck
stuck right in there and got a well
deserved second.
In the 250 race Jag~w had
mechanical troubles again but won the
lll'St moto and' took 2nd in the second.
His Husky quit on the line iii the third
moto and he could not get it restarted
in the required three minutes. RAndy
Limbeck on· a Maico from Redmond
won the second and third motos, but
due to a fall in the last moto managed
only a third. Two seconds and a third
got Doug Aiken (Hus) a first place
trophy. Ray Crawford' aboard an Ossa
got second and Bill St. Jeor third.
The Open class had only six riders
but proved to be an interesting race.
Jagow mounted a 400 Husky and won
all three motos but not without a tussle
with CZ's Len Kesey of Eugene and
Ron Brown of Portland on a Rickman
Triumph.
The Cascade Motorcycle Club is
forever working to control dust on the
track and has dumped about 15 loads of
Sawdust and 900 gallons of oil. Next
race Sept. 13 will see more sawdust and
1800 more gallons of oil. Some were
complaining last race about no Junior
class but we need a lot more than 15
riders in a class to split it up.
