Choice of the Champions
Bengt Aberg put it all together again in
1970, and rode his 400cc Husqvarna
Moto-Cross to the International Grand
Prix 500cc Championship, wrapping
it up with a victory at Luxemburg
in the final event of the European
season.
His victory was the ninth individual
world championship won on Husqvarna
motorcycles since 1960. The Huskies
have won more world championships in both
the 250cc and 500cc classes than any
other make.
. But Aberg really had to hustle to pull it
out again this year. Hot on ·his exhaust was
Arne Kring, who actually had the lead
until he injured his back with three events
to go. He scored enough points, however, to
come in a close second, and far ahead
of the rest of the field.
Aberg and Kring will·be c.ompeting in the
Inter-Am races, along with Chris
Hammargren, who finished fifth in the
International 500cc competition. They will
be riding the same 400cc Husqvarna
motorcycles you can bUy at your nearest
Husky dealer.
