Ensenada U «(500"', More than your run-of-the-mill motocross, the Ensenada "500" was more like a mini vacation - a chance tor the troops to sample the various forms of enjoyment available South of the Border. Things officially got underway SaturdaY, although for many they began FridaY night, when most of the town's bars were packed with wall to wall motorcycle Tshirts. But in case you miSSed the message Friday night, the whine of unbattled, number-plated two strokes through the town's streets at breakfast time Saturday surely must have clued you that something was JUSt a little bit ditferent about tills Ensenada weekend. It wasn't long that morning before the rumors started, •'Man," dozens of people were saying, "you woo't believe that course. Like, you can't even see, there's so much dust! Unreal'" And sure enough, when the 2 p.m. practice session rolled around, you couldn't believe it. But, the officials said, things will be better tomorrow: We've got tour water trucks that're going to work into the night. A lot of good that will do, you think. But the dust induced anger and trustration soon disappeared. Shortly before P. Brinkman maneuvers his Yamaha over the twisty course. He· did well enough to take second in the 125 Junior Div. I. Tim Hart rrade a special effort not to be in the pack breathing dust. He succeeded by winning both the 250cc and 50Qcc Expert Division.
