eMe 5 p.m., riders began to assemble at the gate leading from the track. Scores and scores of machines: Big ones, little ones; two-strokes, four-strokes; dirt bikes, street bikes. Somewhere, some one apparently gave the signal and the engines were started. Led by local officlals, the screaming, roaring two-wheeled herd moved down the highway and into downtown Ensenada. Hundreds of people on the sidewalk - (Hey, yeah, there's my wife. Move up you ying-yang, Pm going to pop me a wheelle! Damnlt, too late.) Flashing the peace sign at the people; feeling super cool. And then, of course, you wheelle in front of Hussongs. All too soon, though, it came to an end, and the Official Rider'S Parade was back at the track. But the festivities were far from over. For a buck, all comers were treated to a delicious Mexican barbeque. And for absolutely nothlng, you were treated to an awful lot of bench racing and a very serene beach sunset, marred only by a few indiscriminate and careless fireworks shooters. Tim Hart, as he grabbed four of six motos, for oveI!l1 victories in the 250 and 500cc Expert classes. Jim Dawson and Mary Tripes, however, didn't let him steal the victories, as they both battled him for most of the day. Tripes won a 250cc mote, and Dawson almost did, in one of the most exciting races of the day. Hart took the lead, but on the downhill after the start, Dawson took it away. Riding a 360cc Rickman- Yamaha, Dawson began to stretch out his lead. But apparently the Yamaha of Thousand Oaks rider began to fue, as Hart started to whittle away the lead, and on the next lap, passed him and went on to grab the checkers. Over 280 riders and several thousand spectators were on hand for the event, and it's a sure bet that at least that many would attend another such race. (Results on page 22) Ride With' Us.
