Wtth a turn out of over 300 rtders the
big crowd was treated to another day of
excellent racing.
Larry Watkins and Billy Payne, both
riding Malcos, tied tor first In the 500
Sr. In a gruel1Dg race that was marred
by a treak accident that sent a young
spectator to the hospital with a broken
leg. Mike Chamberlain came over a
jumP, running full on and In third place,
trying to take advantage of the high edge
of the turn only to coll1de with a mln1bike.
A boy was seriously Injured and M1ke's
new Malco was totalled. It dido't have to

Jim Dawson won the 125 Sr. followed
by Steve Stroman, Payne and Bob Hershey. Jess Goldberg overcame tired
blood to win the 4 Stroke. Mary Grigg
and Ginny Bird gave "Women's Lib"
someth1ng to talk about, showing the men
how it's done In Powder Putt. Craig
White won the MIn1b1ke class.
There's someth1Dg tor everybody at
Bay Mare. The rtders love It because
it's probably the best motocross course
around. Fans dig It because it's a great
place to take the whole tamily. A glance
around the course at aU the picnicking
~1l1es attests to spectator appeal of
Bay Mare. If the GodS would provide
Dave Grove with some free air conditioning we would be more inclined to
agree "happiness is a day at Bay Mare."
