Sign -Ups Equal Track Record
In Mesa Me-Sponsored TT Races
SAN DIEGO, CAL. June 21, 1970- Once
again tying the record for the South Bay
Speedway 10 San Diego, was a s1gn-up of
148 riders. Another large crowd of spectators was on hand to watch the 'M'races
sponsored by the Mesa MC of San Diego.
The constant battle and exchange of
positions 10 the 200Cc Novice and 250Cc
Novice races' lent added exc1tement to
the already exh1larating pace. Terry
Goodman and Tom Bohler had their own
IBttle for third place with John Swink1e
taIdng fir st and J. Lewis comlng 10 second 10 the 200Cc Novice class whUe,
Greg Wickam from the Los Angeles area
and Jeff Hosaka from the local area vied
for 1st place 10 the 250Cc Novice event
with Wlekam taIdng 1st and Hosaka
coming 10 second.
Lorr1 Fuller, 1970 Powder Puff polnt
leader 10 the 38th District again came
out on top taIdng 1st place with Debbie
Reon a close second and Katble Coll1e
10 third.
Missing from the action at South Bay
Speedway today was Novice rider Jlm
Casey. Jlm's oavy dad "Big Jim" 15
being transferred to Moffett F1eld, so
we wisb J1m lots of luck raclng 10 the
Bay area. J1m bas given the spectators
10 the San Diego area many a tbrW 10
the past on bls r1des 10 the 10OCc, l25ec,
250Cc and 650Cc classes.
A professional TT and Flat Track race
will be beld on June 28, at the South Bay
Speedway. Tb1s event wl1l be sponsored
by the ACA.

In the 125cc Main Flat Track, Jlm
Cb1hrood and Bob SaDders d Wb1ttler
put on a fiercely Clllltested beat. Both
were r1dtDg Twin Yamaha's with Cb1twood's famous screamer com1ng out on
top after the lead ehang1ng back and
forth several times.
The 250Cc Main Flat Track was a close
race between Earl Barker and Gary
Scott with Barker taIdng first and Gary
Scott com1ng 10 second. Jlm Harmonran
bls first Flat Tract race on b1s Norton
10 the 500cc Open Flat Track and came
10 first with Wayne Hosaka takIng second
on a BSA.
The 500ec Open Malo just bad to be
the most exciting race of the day from a
stan
