MEXICO June 21. 1970Unl1ke tbe previous E.B,R.A. Motocross races, tbe flftb race of !be season was marred by several undesirable events botb 011 and off lile track. Several U.S. riders not only sbowed lileir unsportsman-11ke attitudes, but also endallgered otber racers and spectators witb an unfortuDate display of liloughtless r1d1Dg, poor judeement and . hot tempers. There is little doubt lilat bad these tactics been employed at a sanctioned race in tbe U.S.A., !be riders who were involved would have been disqualWed. WIth a new motocross track and approximatelY twice the number of rider entries, except for the ~rev1ously mentioned problems tbe racing was by far tbe best of tbe season. Oscar Lujan again sbowed his superiority in the l25cc Class, w1nn1ng all tbree motos on his 100 S.L. Honda. Lee Fabry (Hod) was second with the rest of !be riders battl1ng for tbird. The 250Cc Class was run in three 10~ lap m.otos with lile competition being as rougb as you would find anywhere. Al Wurtzel (CZ) took tbe win wilil Fred Roberts (C Z) second and Paul DeLaTorre (Bul) tb1r.d. The Open Event saw Paul DeLaTorre return to his w1nn1ng ways witb Gary Colberg second. After crasb1ng In tbe 250Cc and Open Classes, DaVid Brooks (Bul) wired his expansion chamber back on, borrowed a brake lever and compression release handle and put in all togetber with a fine ride to win tbe Trophy Dasb.
