June 7,1970The A.F .M., in an effort to expedite a long race program, tried several new ideas at their road race here at Orange Co. Intl. Raceway Sunday, including the ellm1nation of heat races. A great deal of time had been lost in getting everyone out on the race track and lined uP for the event. The riders now know that they will be competing but once in each class. Consequently, wben their class was called they were there. Part of the time that is saved by not having to hunt, pick and walt for the riders to come to the line has been given . back to them by extending the length of each race. I ' In the regular events Dave Scott showed he was equal to anyones challenge, as he came home first in the 250 G.p. and 350 G.p. Returning from their Canadian tour, the triumphant side car team of Dean Hummer and Roland Gulbransen showed how they earned that large #1 that they carryon their Harley-Davtdsonpowered side car, as they took the checker fla8 far ahead of their nearest competitors, Ossie Avee and Walt Garnett.
