ORANGE COUNTY, CAL. June 7,1970The A.F .M., in an effort to expedite a
long race program, tried several new
ideas at their road race here at Orange
Co. Intl. Raceway Sunday, including the
ellm1nation of heat races.
A great deal of time had been lost in
getting everyone out on the race track
and lined uP for the event. The riders
now know that they will be competing
but once in each class. Consequently,
wben their class was called they were
there. Part of the time that is saved by
not having to hunt, pick and walt for the
riders to come to the line has been given .
back to them by extending the length
of each race.
As an addition to the program, a
special event was run wbich matched'I"ยท

In the regular events Dave Scott showed he was equal to anyones challenge, as
he came home first in the 250 G.p. and
350 G.p.
Returning from their Canadian tour,
the triumphant side car team of Dean
Hummer and Roland Gulbransen showed
how they earned that large #1 that they
carryon their Harley-Davtdsonpowered
side car, as they took the checker fla8
far ahead of their nearest competitors,
Ossie Avee and Walt Garnett.
Many of the better known riders were
not in attendance because of the long
drive back to the A.M.A. National Road~~~~~~~~~~~~~==
