eMe, DRA WS 300 RIDERS TO NIGHT MI GARDENA, CALIF. May21,'1970- Motocross came to Ascot Park In a big way Thursday night, as nearly 300 riders and 3000 spectators were on hand for the Inaugural of the weekly CMC events. In .the past, response to the handful of Sunday afternoon motocrosses staged at the world famous dirt track have been, at best, lukewarm. But Thursday, after dark racing and the CMC mus t somehow agree with the local gentry. ,Firs t night difficulties and a massive post entry delayed racing until about 8:45. But when It did get underway, Southern California's best motocrossers provided a thr1ll -a-mlnute spectacle on a very easy to watch, tight but fast, course. With the possible exception of steep uPhills and downhills, the course was equipped with all of the necessary obstacles. And to do those obsta cles justice, West Coast Motocross Team Captain Jim Wilson and Co-Captain Tim Hart put on a rip-roaring display of s klllfu l riding, much to the delight of the enthusiastic crowd .
