AprUll, 12, 1970Nearly 2000 spectators, including many curious shoppers, were on hand here th1s Saturday and Sunday, as the Classic. and Antique Motorcycle Associationheld their 3rd annual rally. The first day of the rally Included a concours d'elegance, followed by an 8:00 p.m, dinner for awards, introductions, and sUdes of the 1969 Isle of Man Vintage Motorcycle Rally. Sunday was a poker run of 70 mUes through the Sierra footh1lls, with a 15 mUe run for the older machines. For the spectator, there was quite a variety of machines to daydream over: Eddie Arnold's rare 1939 Velocette KTT Mk VIn Grand Prix roadracer; to Jack Kirk's 1932 Crocker 500cc Speedway bike; to Urban Hirsch's 1917 Indian Sidecar rig. Austin Munger brought a rare 1937 Brough Superior, Robert Reid had a 1910 F.N. Fabrlque National from Belgium, and Sam Pierce had a 1969 Indian, that stood as testimony that a classic never ages. This event was the largest gathering of Classic and Antique motorcycles ever held. CAMA has been In existence for three years and Is headed by Frank Conley. The organ1za.tion Is located at 808 So. Church St., Visalia, 93277, and membership Is $3.00 per year, which Includes a subscription to their semi-annual bulletin. Those people Interested In rare and classic motorcycles are invited to join.
